Biography: Dr. Levy is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and the Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology service at Weill Cornell Medicine and a member of the Weill Cornell Ophthalmology Department.After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and New York University. Biography: Donald J. D'Amico, MD, Professor and Chair of the Israel Englander Department of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, is an internationally recognized leader in the field of vitreoretinal surgery. He assumed the Chair at Weill Cornell in 2006 after his longstanding positions at Harvard Medical School as Professor of Ophthalmology, and as Associate Chief of Ophthalmology and Director of the Diabetic Unit at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he completed his residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He completed his fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, followed by selection as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary prior to joining the Harvard faculty.Dr. D'Amico has published over 175 articles on vitreoretinal diseases and has co-edited two books covering comprehensive retinal themes. He has participated as a principal investigator or co-investigator in many clinical trials and laboratory investigations. His major interests include: vitreoretinal surgery; diabetic retinopathy; macular degeneration; experimental lasers and other technologies for the surgical treatment of vitreoretinal disorders such as retinal detachment, macular holes and epiretinal membranes; and endophthalmitis and intravitreal drug therapy. As attending physician specializing in the care of patients with vitreoretinal disorders at the Israel Englander Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. D'Amico also provides direct instruction of medical students, ophthalmology residents, and retina fellows. In this role he has twice received the Teacher of the Year Award given by the residents of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.Dr. D'Amico is a distinguished national and international lecturer and is the recipient of many honors, including the Honor Award and the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He serves on the board of four major journals, and is highly active in professional societies. Biography: Dr. Kimberly Sippel attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, graduating with honors in Biochemical Sciences. She received her medical degree with the Alpha Omega Alpha honor distinction from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. Biography: Dr. Paul Petrakos is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Biography: Dr. Kovacs is a board-certified retina specialist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Kovacs specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases, including conditions such as retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, trauma, endophthalmitis, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal degenerations and dystrophies, and secondary intraocular lenses.Dr. Kovacs has lived his whole life in the Northeast, growing up on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line. A native of New Jersey, he graduated cum laude from Harvard College. He received his M.D. with distinction in clinical research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was also elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha academic honor society and a recipient of the Jesse S Weissberg Scholarship for Academic Excellence.Dr. Kovacs then completed his Internship Training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He completed Residency Training in Ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine / Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by Fellowship Training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York – Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Kovacs was selected to serve as Chief Resident during the final year of his residency at Yale, and received multiple awards during his training including Yale ophthalmology resident research awards in 2017 and 2018, New York Academy of Medicine resident research award in 2017, and the Yale Department of Ophthalmology Marvin Sears Award recognizing clinical and surgical excellence.Dr. Kovacs is actively engaged in clinical and basic science research in retinal diseases and has published approximately 25 peer-reviewed research articles. He has authored several textbook chapters and has regularly presents his research at national and international meetings. Biography: Matthew D. Nguyen, MD, is a board certified fellowship trained ophthalmologist with an interest in cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery including Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK), refractive surgery, anterior segment surgery, and general ophthalmologic practice. Biography: Grace Y. Wang, OD, attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA, graduating with honors in Biochemistry. She was an accomplished researcher in various fields, including HIV, Cutaneous Biology and Reproductive Biology.
